
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker in the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the top division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team between 2018 and 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. After graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley and playing for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club and was instrumental in helping the team win its league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time, and was one of the youngest players on the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. Morgan scored the game-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game during the 2012 London Olympics. She was second in the United States with 21 assists and 20 goals for the year 2012, making her the sixth and youngest athlete in the nation to score 20 goals in a single year. She was subsequently awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments in addition to winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
